Educating the Community:

Highlighting Achievements and Challenges in Montezuma County

Before the Campaign

Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 faced a challenge: increasing community awareness of the district's progress and highlighting the struggles faced by educators, particularly around pay. While the district had achieved notable improvements in school and district performance, public recognition and understanding of these successes—and the ongoing challenges—remained limited.

Effct.org partnered with the district to design a public information campaign that would:

  • Educate residents on the district’s achievements.

  • Build awareness of the financial and operational struggles faced by educators.

  • Engage the community to foster support for the district’s mission.

To achieve these goals, the campaign was designed to leverage digital platforms, including Facebook and Google Ads, to reach a wide but relevant audience in Montezuma County.

Between July 1st, 2024, and November 4th, 2024, Effct.org ran a comprehensive public information campaign consisting of:

1. Facebook and Instagram Advertising

Effct.org created engaging static and video content to highlight the district's achievements and educator challenges. Using voter lists and lookalike audiences, the campaign targeted local residents to ensure maximum relevance.
